Solid Sawn Timber

Solid-sawn timber, or heavy timber, is timber cut from a single log. The most common species for these applications are douglas fir, western cedar, and southern pine.

There are trade-offs when deciding between the use of glulam or solid timber.

Structural properties, responsible forestry, and cost effectiveness of very large cross-sections & lengths favor glue laminated timber.

But for hand-crafted, bespoke character, nothing compares to solid timber.

Timber Systems has extensive experience in both laminated and solid timber engineering, design, and construction.  Let us provide you with our expert knowledge on your upcoming timber project and experience just how much we have to offer.
